What is report text?

What Is a Report Text?
The first point we should be aware of is the general definition and the classification of each subject that we intend to write in the form of reported text. But, do not forget that a report text is different from a descriptive text. Description text has a function to give an explanation about a specific subject. The following are examples of a report text and a
descriptive text.

What is the different between report text and  deskriptive
 text ?
The different between report text and deskriptive text is the report text is more general an d for the descriptive text tell a thing with general and to the spesification for example about a my cat, descriptive text will tell abut my cat with general until the specifikasion, carasteristic, colour, and other. But in the report text just tell with general, but nothing tell about the carasteristic and spesification about a thing

Lets we loke together about the different between report and descriptive text !

Report text (more general)
Music
Music is sound put into pleasing or interesting patterns. People use music for a part of ceremonies, such as religious services, parades, and weddings. People also use music to show their feelings and ideas.

Descriptive text (more specifi c)
Music Box
Music boxes are small instruments that play tunes by themselves. The music-making parts of a music box are a cylinder and a row of metal teeth of different lengths. A spring or a set of wheels turns the cylinder.

Example for the report text

GORILLAS

Gorillas are the largest of all the primates. A male gorilla can be 180 centimeters tall and can weigh 200 kilograms. Gorillas are very strong but they do not often fight. In fact they are peaceful animals. Gorillas live in small family groups of about 15. In a group there is one strong, older male, some young males, and a few females with their babies. They move slowly around a large area of jungle eating leaves and bushes. In some ways gorillas are very like humans. When they are happy, they laugh and wave their arms. When they are angry, they beat their chests. When they are sad, they cry. But they cry quietly, without any tears. Unfortunately, people hunt and kill gorillas. They also cut down and burn their trees. There are now only about 10,000 gorillas left in the world. (Source : Abbs, Brian, et.all. Take Off, Student Book 2, p 68)
